Poetry: panning rush

From Issue 90 — Get Lucky

panning rush

a man made of leather
looks back
wonders
then wanders

I swallow a
burning pomegranate
common rocks
sloshing in the silt of my weedy water

please come back

sift away my murk and
unearth my gold

in spring

Because someday it will be illegal or poisonous or both Because your hair doesn’t matter, and neither does your shirt Because you want to make out with the sky Because if someone really loves you, they’ll love you sopping wet
